Brian Samson, only the fourth Varsity lacrosse coach at nationally prominent Conestoga High School, is in his 14th season at the helm as the Pioneer’s Head Coach.
Coach Samson led the Pioneers to 3 consecutive PIAA State Championships (2010, 2011 and 2012) and five straight PIAA State Championship game appearances. From 2009 to 2012, his Pioneer teams won 96 games and lost only 8 times, in each case to nationally ranked teams. Along the way, Conestoga has won 4 District 1 Championships and multiple Central League titles. In 2013, a rebuilding year for the Pioneers, Coach Samson nonetheless led his team on a late season run that again led to Hershey and another showdown with nationally ranked powerhouse La Salle. Coach Samson was named Coach of the Year by the Daily Local News in 2011 and Honorable Mention by PhillyLacrosse.com.
Coach Samson has coached and developed numerous Under Armor All-Americans, US Lacrosse All-Americans and All-Phillylacrosse.com, All-State, All-Central League, and All-Main Line players. He has helped with the recruiting needs of many of his players, some of whom have gone on to play at elite national lacrosse programs. During his time as leader of the Pioneers, he has established Conestoga as a school that cannot be overlooked by college coaches looking to recruit talented and knowledgeable lacrosse players. Many of his players are now on the rosters of top-tier lacrosse schools.
Coach Samson is a Philadelphia native who was a standout defensive player at nearby Radnor High School. Brian played his college career at nationally-ranked Georgetown University, where he had the opportunity to be a major contributor and was a stand-out player on defense.
Coach Samson serves as a guidance counselor at Conestoga and is very familiar providing help and support to students in connection with the college searches and choices.
